I am an avid shooter and hunter and have been since I was old enough to hold a firearm.  When I was 11-years-old, I began competitive shooting as a member of a 4-H shooting team that was coached by my father.  That same year (and the following year), I was the Oregon State Small-bore Champion in my age class.

In 1972, at the age of 16, I earned my NRA Expert Marksman rating.

In 1977, I began a 31-year career in the professional fire service.  During that career, I worked through the ranks of Firefighter, Paramedic, EMT-Instructor/Trainer, Fire/EMS Dispatcher, Fire Inspector, Plans Examiner, and finally, in 2007 I retired at the rank of Deputy Chief Fire Marshal.

In 1992, I became a certified law enforcement officer when I graduated from the Clackamas County Sheriff's Academy.  I served five years as a Reserve Deputy Sheriff where I gained valuable training and experience in personal safety tactics and tactical firearms use.

I love to teach.  In addition to being a certified firearms instructor, as an NFPA certified public educator and Certified Basic Life Support and EMT Instructor, I taught thousands of hours of classes to the public and Fire/EMS professionals, including courses in Basic and Advanced Life Support, fire prevention, emergency preparedness, and earthquake and disaster preparedness.

I have been a member of the Boy Scouts of America for over 55 contiguous years (over 20 years as a Scoutmaster) and I continue to support the BSA Shooting Sports programs as well as providing range management each summer at a church camp for young women.  I also served on the Western Region Medical Staff of five National Boy Scout Jamboree's at Fort A.P. Hill, Virginia.  I was invited to supervise the Shooting Sports activities as an NRA Instructor at the 2013 National Scout Jamboree.

Most importantly, I relentlessly pursue continuing education in my chosen interests, in order to stay on the cutting edge of the available technologies.  This continuing education and my experience gained from decades of concealed carry, dedication to the shooting sports, and my life-long study of and unwavering respect for the rights enumerated in the United States Constitution and the Oregon Constitution, motivates me to advance the shooting sports and our God-given right and responsibility to keep and bear arms.
